Born outside of Cleveland in Akron, Ohio in 1992 and raised in South Bend, IN—Jacob Titus is an artist and photographer. After earning an undergraduate degree from Indiana University, he returned home to help turn a bowling alley into a community center. It was upon this return that Jacob started making photographs as a way of documenting life and finding a sense of self in the post-industrial American Midwest. This penchant for observation allied with an unabashed love of buildings and an interest in what's coming next, makes up Jacob's artistic practice today.

Jacob’s work is rooted in place—its texture, histories, and arc. He co-owns Vested Interest, a former factory being rebuilt as a home for artists, small manufacturers, and independent workers. He documents post-industrial cities through projects like Life in South Bend, Walking in Wheeling, and Dreaming in Butte. He also writes about small-city life at West.SB and runs Tutt Street, a creative studio working with civic, cultural, and commercial clients.

Read more of Jacob's work and background in the South Bend Tribune (2023) and Strong Towns (2021) and some of his thoughts on South Bend in The New York Times (2020) and L.A. Times (2020).
